Each day the Church clothes her worship in prayers and antiphons proper to the season, the feast, or the feria — the Introit that opens the Mass, the Collect that gathers our prayer, the Preface that begins the Eucharistic Prayer. These are the Propers.

The Mass has two great sets of texts. The Ordinary — the Gloria, the Creed, the Sanctus, the Agnus Dei — remains the same at every Mass. The Propers change with every day, feast, and season, clothing the Church's eternal worship in the particular grace of this moment in time.
